As the sun sets on Allison’s high school years, a brand new chapter awaits as she prepares to embark on her college experience. From her home in Iowa, Allison was eager to reflect on the lessons learned during her time at Humboldt High School. She has a passion for creativity, a deeply-rooted connection to her family farm, and a desire to explore the world.
Allison describes herself as smart and creative, and has always had a knack for thinking outside the box. Through high school, she has embraced that creative side through speech competitions, managing basketball and football teams, playing soccer, and being involved in the local chapter of the FFA. All of these experiences have allowed her to express her unique perspective on life, and learn important lessons. One valuable lesson that she learned during her high school years, is to stay true to herself, and not worry about what others think. “If I could go backwards to freshman year, I’d tell myself to develop my personal sense of style and stick with it…and embrace my individuality”, she explained. This bright girl also has a big vision for her future, and it revolves around agronomy, a field that bridges the gap between her farming heritage and the future of their farm. Inspired by the connections between the past and the potential of sustainable agriculture, she sees herself playing a vital role in preserving and enhancing their land's productivity. By selecting this path, Allison aims to honor her family's legacy while embracing innovation and environmental stewardship. After graduation, she also has her sights set on exploring Europe, immersing herself in different cultures, and expanding her horizons. The prospect of travel fuels her curiosity and thirst for knowledge, allowing her to see the world through a broader lens.
Now that college is finally on the horizon, she is stepping into this new chapter with excitement, determination, and a thirst for knowledge. Her journey, shaped by creativity and connection, is just beginning, and she’s ready to make her mark on the world!
