“I read somewhere that you should smile as soon as you wake up in the morning because it boosts your attitude for the whole day”, shared Allison, “Reading that inspired me to do exactly that, every day!” This bright and sweet girl is an absolute light; she is friendly and kind, and truly gets to know the people she’s around. She makes everyone feel comfortable. Allison is graduating from Humboldt High School, where she has been a marching band drum major, and part of the cross country team. “These activities are meaningful to me because they help me connect with people I may not have met otherwise”, she explains, “I am someone who is motivated and can work towards a specific goal. I’ve learned that it’s also really important to take care of myself during times of stress. With the challenges of junior year (during the pandemic), I need to take time for myself, and that helped me greatly in the long run.” Her favorite subject is Spanish, which she describes as the “most beneficial”, and something she hopes to keep up after high school.
When I asked who her greatest role model is, she shared, “I look up to my mom the most in my life, because she always wants what is best for me. I hope to be that kind of person for others in my life someday.” Allison adds, “I am also someone who is passionate about saving the arts in schools, because I’ve noticed the trend to cut funding for the creative arts to funnel it to other extracurriculars. I find that seems unfair to those who want to express themselves creatively”. Lastly, she said if she could go back to being a freshman, she would tell herself, “I would remind myself to work hard and treasure your friends, because you’ll graduate before you know it!”
As far as after graduation, she hasn’t fully decided on her future plans, but she hopes to become a physical trainer one day. Allison would also love to travel as much as possible, and is looking forward to what’s next!
