I’m still smiling from Carter’s session…what a breeze, and we had the perfect weather! Right off the bat, I asked, “First of all, did you have fun?” and that grin said it all: yes. There’s nothing better than seeing genuine joy when the sun is out and the breeze is just right. We laughed, we joked, and before long, the camera was clicking away on all the best moments. Like all my awesome seniors, I wanted to make sure he felt completely at ease. Big events and big moments can bring jitters, so I checked in about any worries beforehand and whether I could’ve done more to set him up for success. Hearing he had “no worries at all” reassured me that my prep emails and wardrobe tips hit the mark (yesssss!). As a longtime senior photographer, I still want that feeling for every senior I work with, as well as their parents!
Speaking of smooth, I had to ask what stood out most for this session. His reply? How lovely it was outside and how seamless the whole thing felt. Blue skies, golden light, and zero hiccups, that’s a photographer’s dream team. When nature cooperates and the energy is relaxed, it reminds me how much I love this job. I also wanted to know if I’d earn a recommendation, and that resounding yes felt like music to my ears. When friends ask how it went, the answer will be that it was a great time, and that it was smooth and quick. That’s exactly the kind of feedback that sends more families my way, especially those with guy seniors who usually don’t want a long and drawn-out process.
Now let’s celebrate this bright senior’s personality. Kind and humble are the two words friends and family keep repeating, and those traits came through in every shot. Check and check! Years of playing soccer, basketball, and baseball have built lifelong connections and taught teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. Looking ahead, he’s curious about studying kinesiology. Whether working with athletes or exploring how our bodies move, it feels like a perfect fit for someone with such a passion for sports and family. And here’s the advice he’d give to future freshmen: high school goes by fast, so don’t waste a single moment. If you’re ready to capture your own story with that same relaxed, joyful energy as Carter’s, let’s plan your session and create those moments together.
