What does it feel like to be one of my clients? That was the question I actually answered…myself! Yes, last week, I spent the day having my own branding photos taken. It was time to practice what I preach, by updating my branding photos, and giving my clients a peek into why they’re so important. Let’s be honest, the selfies just weren’t cutting it. I wanted to represent my business more clearly!
I had such a great time, and having my hair and makeup done was a true pampering experience. Any mother knows that with little ones, the opportunities to do some self-care and feel like a knock out are rare, to say the least. I recommend having hair and makeup done to all my clients for several reasons, but primarily:
- It makes for a much less stressful day, because you don’t risk your makeup not turning out, and having to start over. It also gives you more time to grab a coffee, prepare, and get your clothes ready.
- You can actually sit back and relax, scroll your phone, listen to your favorite music or podcasts, and feel glamorous!
The wonderful Heidi McCullough did my hair and makeup, which I highly recommend as the add-on to your session. I have been partnering with Heidi for over a year now, and have known her forever. She has the magic touch for making you look and feel your best, and giving you loads of confidence. She also is brilliant at giving little touchups to your hair and makeup. I brought allllll the things to my shoot, because I am great at making decisions for my clients, but it’s super hard to make those decisions for myself and be the center of attention! I am grateful for the amazing Heidi, and my photographer (more on her later), who gave me the same assistance and guidance that I am often the one providing.
I knew I wanted photos that would show different nooks and corners of my studio. I knew I wanted to have a big variety, because it was important to me that I not get tired of the images. I made a list of some poses that I wanted, such as me working at my desk, drinking cocoa, or working on my phone, since I do so much of my work there. Forgetting a pose you want is common for many clients, so I also will help you develop a plan to keep your images current.
Overall, I had such an amazing experience. I even had fun! I felt so comfortable in front of the camera, and now I have plenty of photos for my social media posts. I want my clients to feel that they know me, what I do, and why I do it, and these images will convey that! Now, if you’re wondering who did my photos, it was the incredible Jessica Shirk from Jshirkphotography. She’s located in Emmetsburg, and she’s awesome! I was so glad I entrusted her with this task.
Thanks for following along on my little trip in FRONT of the lens! I still prefer to be behind it, but I had a great day!
