I don’t know about you but for me, buying gifts is challenging year-round, but Christmas adds an extra piece of pressure sometimes. Of course, you want to choose the perfect gift, but I’ve found that sometimes it’s about choosing the gift that will be most loved, rather than “perfect” in our heads. With the rising costs across the country, this year means many people want to be sure that the gifts they are buying are a good use of their funds. I’ve put together some of my best suggestions today in this handy gift guide (it covers many of the people that are typically on a gift list, and many of them can be adapted for other friends and family, too).
For the high school senior or teen on your list: Teens are notoriously hard to buy for, but these days most of their items are spendy tech items. So if you want to do more than just a gift card, these are a few good picks: a faux leather puffer coat is a hot item this season, and is available at places like Abercrombie. If you want a more budget-friendly option, there’s also one on Amazon. Another more expensive option is the Fujifilm Instax, which has a cool new square profile. It would work for a guy or girl, although it’s closer to the $100 price point.
For the new parents or new baby: A very affordable and practical gift is ideal for parents of newborns. A newborn has no idea what gifts or toys they love yet, so something practical is a good idea. These silicon bibs are stylish, flexible, and they roll up for storage. Best of all, they can be wiped off or rinsed off on the go. They’re just $12, and they come in all kinds of muted neutrals which are the biggest trends right now.
For your husband: Husbands are always pretty practical, and who doesn’t love a sleek new watch? Even if he doesn’t wear many watches (a lot of people wear an apple watch these days), its nice to have a dressier option like this one which is deceptively stylish. It’s from Fossil, and it’s under $100, which makes it a substantial but affordable gift for your guy. Add in a few stocking stuffers like a headlamp, gloves, or his favorite snacks.
For your parents or grandparents: A heated throw really can work for anyone on your list. They’re practical and cozy, and who doesn’t love curling up with a good book or movie and staying totally warm? Right now, there are tons of sales on heated blankets, but Bed Bath and Beyond has a great option that’s under $40 and would make a wonderful gift. We recommend choosing a nice neutral grey or taupe that will work in anyone’s house.
For yourself: The hottest gift this season is the UGG Ultra Mini. Although it’s pretty much sold out everywhere because of the popularity, you can find a really good dupe from Cushionnaire on Amazon. Send the link to your hubby or kids, and enjoy the warmth all year long for half the price! If you want to ask for something more elegant, look up Made by Mary, which makes gorgeous but affordable jewelry items for moms. They’re so pretty and nearly all under $50-$75 and they last for years.
For your neighbor: I love blessing neighbors or acquaintances with a little gift when I can, and this ornament is just $15. If your budget needs something a bit smaller, you can purchase a cute potholder and spatula and tie it to a cookie mix with a ribbon. That also works well for teachers or coaches as a nice practical item that’s consumable. Many teachers love consumable items because they don’t take up space like a mug or a frame.
