Every time I get behind the camera, I view a session as a chance to document something irreplaceable: a senior’s individual journey. No journeys or paths are the same, and I’m always pretty amazed with the stories that these seniors carry into our time together. Some are heavy and hard, and others are filled with hope. No matter their story, every senior is resilient and inspiriting. Mason was no exception, and getting a glimpse into his life was a joy. He’s a kind-hearted and intelligent young man from Humboldt, and he had a big personality. The people who love Mason most would probably describe him as “kind and smart”, and he humbly attributes those things to his upbringing. When asked about his biggest role model, Mason's admiration for his father shone through. He aspires to emulate his dad's integrity and values, guiding him on the path towards his future endeavors of joining the family business (a locally-owned restaurant).
Mason is also very passionate about anti-bullying efforts in his community and school. Drawing from his own experiences, he always advocates for treating others with kindness and respect: a principle he lives by every day. During his high school career, he played tons of sports, ranging from football to track and golf. Not only did these things give him confidence and amazing athletic abilities, they also provided him with some pretty incredible friendships. Although sports played a huge role in his life, so did academics. He found that he fell in love with his PE classes, and he worked hard in all aspects of his schoolwork. Looking back over his high school years, he notes that he wished he had take more time to savor all of the experiences as a freshman.
During our sessions together, Mason was a natural. He has a friendly demeanor and relaxed attitude, and made the process seamless and fun! He trusted my vision and creativity, and everything came together perfectly. It was an honor to capture his individual story, and I can’t wait to watch his future endeavors!
