How would you describe this clan? A group from the Carnival or a Church Group?
We were described as both on our latest camping adventure.
We were carnies as we traveled to McGregor with 8 campers all stopping at the same gas station and we were considered a church group as we all pulled into Pikes Peak at 8:00 AM with piles of adults and kids unloading from the trucks to go hiking.
I think I'll take both versions as compliments as we are a little crazy when we all get together but still kind to others out enjoying their adventures.
We camped in McGregor at Spook Cave Campground. We had a blast swimming in the pond, creek setting (when you gather around in a creek and have drinks), going on a cave tour, hiking Iowa's version of Pike's Peak(all of us went and survived). Plus we had bike rides and face paintings.
We had a free added bonus of camping next to train tracks that were still running too. Being woke up at 2:00 AM to a train is a little heart-stopping when you're not prepared.
We have kids from 2 years old up to 20 years old. The kids run around and play and float between each other with activities. Even the teenagers make time to play and help with the younger kids (which helps us, parents, out a ton). While the kids play the adults are relaxing, cooking, or going a little crazy, making sure all of the kids are accounted for.
We've been camping together for the past few years and as kids grow we've just added more campers to the bunch. This was our first traveling adventure and to say we have fun is an understatement and we can't wait for next year's adventure!
If you have any suggestions for next year's location send me a message so we can start planning.
PS:: We stayed at Spooks Cave Campground but unfortunately due to new management I wouldn't recommend staying there. One minute they were nice and the next they were rude and if you know any of us we are the furthest from rude people. Plus when you're dragging 30 people anywhere we are all patient knowing it takes time to accommodate everyone at the same time. Luckily since we are fun people we were able to enjoy the trip but I don't recommend staying there until management gets adjusted.
