Prom is a pretty unforgettable event, and many juniors and seniors opt for a professional photographer to capture their memories. There’s many reasons to choose this option, but primarily, you end up with heirloom images rather than just iPhone snapshots! Yes, modern smartphones are amazing and have crazy-cool camera capabilities, but they cannot replicate a professional who can pose you/your friends, get your best angles, and make your images stand out on Instagram! Here are some more of my best tips for prom night:
-Ask your group of friends if they’d be willing to get a professional photographer: Getting photos of your core group of pals is so special and irreplaceable. You may not realize it now, but as an adult, you will love looking back on these images. Not only that, but when you head off to college and your friendships or relationships change, it’s special to have these things immortalized in photos to remember. It also helps when you’re feeling homesick at college, to have these photos close by.
-Get the most out of your awesome outfits! If you’re buying a spectacular dress or renting a great tux, why not maximize those outfits by having professional photos done? You’ll know you’ll look your best, and feel extra confident and have gorgeous portraits to display for years to come. You can also use these photos for things like your social profiles or even if your family is updating their displayed photos of you, too!
-Prepare ahead of time: It’s good to prep everything you’ll need way in advance. That includes shoes, undergarments, steaming dresses, having things tailored or hemmed, etc. You don’t want any surprises or to have some mishap occur before the big day or the day of your photos. Be sure to try everything on WITH shoes, and double check it to be safe. Store your tux or dress in a safe place away from pets or toddlers, like a guest room closet.
-Don’t sweat things like braces or pimples: Things happen, and much like senior photos, occasionally you will have something pop up like getting braces on or off, or having a pimple you never expected or a scar or cut that’s visible in your images. It’s okay. Even weight fluctuations can happen during such a pivotal time in your life, and trust me when I say that I understand. I am always happy to listen to any concerns you have and help come up with solutions that make you feel confident without over-editing. I promise that the most important part of your photos is that you are in them.
