Let’s be honest. If you’ve ever helped someone move houses or unpacked old boxes of stuff, you’ve probably found thumb drives or CD’s full of photos. And sometimes, there’s even senior photos in all those boxes! There’s nothing that breaks my heart more than imagining those priceless memories stored away and forgotten. But that’s just the reality for many seniors. When you don’t know what you’re going to use photos for, they end up forgotten and stored in the attic! So, how do you combat forgetting all about your images?
-Know what you’re going to use your images for before you book your shoot: We mean the big hitters: graduation announcements, senior party, or the yearbook. Know which of these items you want to use your photos for, before you book, and please let me know. This ensures we will get enough close-ups and shots from far away to meet any need you may have.
-Check your budget with your parent or guardian: For many, their investment depends on what their parent or guardian can cover. Be sure to have this conversation before your session, and ask lots of questions so that there are no surprises. For us here at InSite Creatives, we want our pricing to be clear-cut and transparent, so that any senior who books with us knows what their costs and fees will be.
-Plan for what you want to gift: Many grandparents, aunts and uncles, and other family members want prints and products of their own as keepsakes. Deciding what and who you will be buying for is an important step. We recommend making a list of the people who would like albums or prints, so that you will be ready when your ordering time occurs. Our most successful clients are the ones who are prepared and ready!
-Display the photos! Make sure you display the prints and products that you purchase. Some ideas are: put them in your dorm room in frames or on the wall, place them in a home office or bookshelf, and include albums among other books on a coffee table. At your grad party, put some images on your signing or gift tables, or include them in a set of photos from over the years (they look great next to all the baby photos your mom will want to display!).
