It was early March, and this is my thoughts as to what many Seniors were thinking...
It's my senior year and I can't wait to be done with high school. The days are long! Why didn’t I graduate early?!?!
OR
It's my senior year, life is going ok but when is SPRING coming so I can graduate and move on to the next stage of my life...
but then Spring arrives and everything changes.
You are out of school but not by choice and you are unable to hang out with your friends, friends that you might not get to see again because next fall you will all be headed in different directions. Some of you will stay in Humboldt, others will be 20 minutes away at ICCC and some will make the jaunt to the surrounding universities or out state.
But it's all different now, you are not sure if you will get to experience your senior prom or even get a graduation ceremony. Do I get to have a graduation party?? These worries are valid and such a huge concern for the Class of 2020. This is your moment and you feel it is all being taken away. You may be feeling anxious, sad, or even angry.
This time will pass, you will get through these challenges and it will make you stronger. This experience will make you grateful and thankful for the things you do have. You have family, friends, possibly a BFF that still gets to come hang out because you are considered "sibling status” and thank the Lord for the internet and facetime!!
These challenges may also be making you creative with how you are keeping in touch with your friends. Maybe you are even like me and thankful for living in such a small community and thankful that we are still able to get outside, enjoy the weather and wave at our neighbors from afar.
This is just one stepping stone to the many challenges you will encounter as you enter adulthood. With this all being said your parents want to take the time to remind you just how proud they are of you.
Here's to these amazing young adults as they handle these challenges with grace.
