Oh man. I have BEEN THERE. I know that not every senior comes to book their senior session armed with Pinterest boards and a knowledge of every heirloom print and product they want to order. I know for some, the expense, time commitment, and thought of being in front of a camera is more anxiety-producing than exciting. And I want you to know that if that is YOU… welcome in, friends! I cant. wait. to. meet. you. That’s because after many years as a senior photographer, I understand seniors and their parents, and I can help ease your mind about the many obstacles you may have:
- “I’m not a model, and I’m nervous about posing!” I’ll let you in on a little secret: just about everyone feels this way. Posing is one of the most intimidating things about having a professional photoshoot done, and it’s also one of the things I LOVE to help my clients with. I will be guiding you step-by-step over posing and will never force you into stiff, awkward poses that you hate. My goal is for you to feel comfortable, move around, and feel like yourself.
- “I want to lose weight!” I understand that it can feel like a lot of pressure to look like the portrayal of models on Instagram, and I know seniors today face more pressure than ever to look or be a certain way. I want you to feel confident and comfortable, no matter your size or height, and my goal is always to bring out that confidence. If you are sensitive about your weight, please confide in me so we can work together to find flattering outfits, poses, and ideas to make you feel the confidence I know is within.
- “I feel stressed about the costs” This is a really common issue, and I know finances can feel stressful. I’d encourage you to have a conversation with your parents/your senior about the cost, and how you may afford it. Consider things like asking relatives or loved ones to contribute as a graduation gift, or having a yard sale or Poshmark sale to raise some funds. I know that senior photos are an investment, particularly when you are saving for college, too, but I also want to urge you to find a way to invest in them. They are truly once in a lifetime, and something you don’t want to put off because of finances.
- “I don’t know how to style my clothes” For some, fashion and styling sounds stressful and not remotely fun. This can include some of my male clients, but there are also some young ladies who struggle to know what to wear, and how to round out an outfit with the shoes, accessories, or jackets that make an outfit truly pop. I am personally here to help you create your photo ensembles and can even help you choose accessories that match the location or style.
There are many emotions that come with booking your senior session, whether you are the parent or the graduating senior. I want to be the resource and friend that helps you walk through those emotions! Reach out today to begin the process!
