Within three weeks of your amazing senior session, it’s time to order the beautiful prints and products! I reach out to clients in order to make a specialized appointment for them (and their loved ones) to view the images they’ve waited so long for. I carefully curated and cull the images so that you see the best of the best! But, this can feel overwhelming for many clients, so I wanted to share some tips for making your ordering session a memorable one:
-Consider which images resonate with you the most: Trust your gut. As you view your images, make note of the ones that elicit your (and your parent or guardian) emotions, as those are usually the ones you love the most. Think about the poses, expressions, and moods that you love, and trust your instincts to choose the right ones.
-Vary the poses and styles you choose: Think about what you’ll be using your images for, whether for graduation announcements, your grad party decor (what image would you want on a huge banner, for example?), or sharing them with family friends. Depending on what you’ll use them for, you will want a variety of landscape and portrait orientation, as well as lots of different looks.
-Choose prints and products that will work for the right purposes: Decide on the sizes of prints that you’d like. We can help guide you if you aren’t sure, but common print sizes include 4x6, 5x7, 8x10, and larger poster-sized prints. Some seniors like to create collages or wall displays with multiple prints. I encourage every client to measure the space they have if they are planning to hang a large print or canvas above a couch or desk. Don’t forget to make a list of the people who may want a print, such as your grandparents.
-Determine your budget: On average, our clients invest between $1500 and $3200 on their senior collections. This can be a large investment for many families, and we certainly understand. We offer payment plans and would love to help you determine how to make this a reality. Every senior deserves luxury senior portraits and the experience of a lifetime.
-Ask for recommendations: If you're unsure about certain products or how to display your photos, ask for recommendations from friends, family, or your photographer. They may have creative ideas to help you decide what will be most useful. Do this before the ordering session so you have time to think. Lastly, be aware of any deadlines for ordering photos, especially if you plan to use them for graduation announcements or gifts!
Ordering your senior photos is a deeply personal journey, a reflection of your unique journey through high school. There's no universal formula here, so please reach out if you have questions. We can help you customize your ordering experience and get the prints and products that you will treasure forever.
