When it came to participating in activities, Leah’s philosophy was simple: join everything, and do it all well! Her strategy has worked pretty well so far, and I LOVED getting to be her senior photographer. Leah shared that, “performing is her happy place”, and cheerleading was the perfect stage for her passion to come to life. Since it was such a big part of her high school years, we made sure to include some images of her cheer uniform and poms! She is graduating from Humboldt High School, where she fell in love with her foreign language classes (she was the first student there to take a foreign language other than Spanish). She took American Sign Language, and will actually be helping teach it this year.
Leah is a go-getter, and credits her spirit to her dad, who she says, “gets around even the biggest obstacles.” She went on to share with me that she learned a lot of important lessons in high school, including, “I had to learn to stop holding onto things…people, problems, etc. It really doesn’t help me, and in fact, it probably will hurt me to hold onto those things. You can’t hold onto the people in your life, just because you were friends the year before. If I could go back to tell myself anything as a freshman, it would be to tell myself I hadn’t even met my senior year best friends yet!” She loves the quote from Hamilton about living, dying, and telling your story, and says she always tries to live her life in a way that will compel others to tell her story.
After graduation, she plans to pursue nursing, and work in the pediatric ICU. Her positive and empathetic spirit will be an incredible asset to the medical field. Leah, you are such an amazing young lady!
