Olivia | Ballard High School Class of 2023
What is the recipe for a perfect senior session? I’d say it always includes pretty light flares, some cool buildings with industrial details, and crisp green grass! Of course, the best part is having a beautiful senior to photograph, and Olivia is an absolute gem. She’s graduating from Ballard High School, where she has been a part of girls soccer, the student council, and the FBLA chapter (Future Business Leaders of America). “Soccer has always been a major part of my life and growing up, I was the only girl on an all-boys team and it was difficult”, she explains, “Now in high school, I get to play with a whole team of girls which is what I always wished for when I was younger.” She loves giving back to her community through being on the student council and her volunteer work. “I’ve learned about the business work through FBLA, and how to present and answer questions about my hard work and projects”, she adds.
Her biggest role models have been her parents, who she says, “both have jobs that they love and are challenging in different ways. They still make time to be present at home, and I look up to that”. Her parents have also shown her how to give back with her time and energy and she’s lived out those values through working at the summer library program, coaching soccer teams, and spending time working with younger students. “If I could go back to being a freshman, I would say really soak it all in…you never know how fast things can change”, she concludes, “COVID cut into my last few months of freshman year, and there were restrictions in my sophomore year. My junior year has been my first full year in high school, and that was after moving schools. Freshman year me would never have imagined that I wouldn’t be graduating with the same kids I went to kindergarten with, but I’m grateful for my new friends and opportunities”.
After graduation, she plans to attend Iowa State to study biology and complete a pre-physical therapy track.
Olivia and I worked together to find the best locations and ideas for her shoot, and says, “I loved that my senior session was pretty go-with-the-flow. I was nervous before it started, but I relaxed in no time. I had a lot of fun throughout the whole process. Even when I only saw the sneak peeks, I knew I was going to love them!”
