Summer fun is officially in full swing, and I am here for it! It's been interesting getting back into a schedule between work, running the kids around, and working with kids. I wanted to share some of our summer activities, and I'd LOVE it if you would send me a DM, text (515-890-0879), or email(brittany@insitecreatives.com) with a fun activity you're planning so maybe we can give it a try too!
Here are some of our top picks for summer activities:
1. Humboldt Public Library Activities The Humboldt Public Library has a ton of free, fun activities happening in June. Here's their website, but honestly, it might be easier to swing by and grab a flyer with all the dates and activities. If your kiddos can ride bikes, it's the perfect activity while you're at work and keeps them off the TV and video games.
2. Parks, Parks, Parks! Parks are a must for the kids. We have so many different parks in town, and it's easy for the kids to ride bikes and try a different one every day. Depending on the age level, DC Park up in Dakota City is my favorite, but it's a bit harder to get to without a car. Many times, I'll take the kids on a lunch break picnic to enjoy the weather, river and some quality kiddo time.
3. Wrestling Camp Carson LOVES wrestling, so it's great that Iowa Central down in Fort Dodge is hosting a wrestling camp in June. It's a bit of a pain while working, but between carpools and rearranging the work schedule, it's worth it. The best part is it's most of the day, so I can drop him off, go back to Humboldt to work, and grab him later.
4. ICCC Dance Team Clinic Piper is super excited for the ICCC Dance Team clinic down in Fort Dodge too. Not sure how I'm swinging that one yet, but it always works out in the end and I think it's great to try different activities so she can see what she likes.
5. Pool Time The kids always love hitting up the Humboldt Aquatic Center. You might need a teen to take them, but it's worth it. Having them enjoy the sunshine and friends makes for easy bedtime.
6. Lake Time When I have a day off we also love hitting up Lake Cornelia over in Clarion. We pack up the sand toys and a picnic lunch and have an afternoon making sandcastles and swimming.
7. Dolliver State Park is a must. I love that you lose service so unless i want to grab a few photos of the kids playing it's easy to shut down the screen time and just enjoy the creek. We like to bring a mino bucket and catch and release the minos. Plus they always have good skipping rocks on the shore line too.
What fun activities do you have planned this summer? I'd love to hear your ideas! Send me a message, and maybe we'll try them out too.
Enjoy the summer sun and fun, everyone! If you're in need of Summer Family photos I'm offering Mini Sessions June 26th (only 3 spots) plus have a few dates left for full sessions if you want the full experience in working with me.
