The Icon team and I recently had the heartwarming opportunity to visit Moffit's Animal Shelter, a haven for animals in need, right here in Humboldt, Iowa. Our visit was not only enlightening but also incredibly rewarding as we got to learn more about the shelter, the adoption process, and the incredible animals waiting for their forever homes.
Upon arriving at the shelter, we were greeted with the chance to snuggle with some of the adorable kittens and take a few of the dogs out for a much-needed walk. The joy in these animals' eyes was absolutely contagious, making our visit even more special. However, spending time at the shelter also opened our eyes to the challenging circumstances many of these animals have endured.
Many of the animals at the shelter have heartbreaking backstories, from being abandoned to losing their owners due to accidents or unforeseen life events. Yet, amidst these sad stories, there is a silver lining knowing that Moffit's Animal Shelter exists to provide care and hope for these animals. The shelter is a crucial part of our community, ensuring that these furry friends are well looked after and given a second chance at happiness.
Miranda, the dedicated executive director of Moffit's Animal Shelter, works tirelessly to keep the shelter running smoothly. It’s a 24/7 job that involves not only caring for the animals but also responding to calls about lost or neglected animals. The shelter relies heavily on the support of volunteers to help with tasks like cleaning kennels and litter boxes, which significantly lightens Miranda’s load. It's truly a community effort to keep the shelter operating effectively.
Exciting news for all animal lovers: Moffit's Animal Shelter is teaming up with other local shelters for a fun-filled fundraiser! Mark your calendars for Sunday, July 21st at 1:00 PM at Lower Sheldon Park. This event promises a day of family fun, with social-friendly dogs welcome to join. The fundraiser aims to support multiple local shelters, including Moffit's, Peace Creek, Lazy J, Three Rivers Tails future dog park, Lending a Paw In Need, and Pups and Paws Pound. It’s a wonderful opportunity to give back and help make a difference in the lives of animals in our community.
